HERITAGE HALL MUSEUM
FREEMAN SWIMMING POOL
Heritage Hall Museum and Archives provides a broad spectrum of collections and artifacts that document the history of the larger Freeman community. The 20,000-plus items range from agriculture to transporation to household.
The Freeman Prairie Arboretum is located just south of the Freeman Academy campus and includes native trees and grasses, flowers, large ponds for fishing, a mile of walking path, a gazeebo and an amphitheater.
The Freeman Swimming Pool is one of the hottest spots in town during the summer months. Hours are 1-5:30 and 6:30-8 seven days a week. Admission is charged daily or through a season pass. For more information call Freeman City Hall at 605-925-7127.
VALLEY VIEW GOLF COURSE
Valley View Golf Course is a nine-hole facility built in 1993 one mile south of Freeman. Large greens and wide fairways make it playable for golfers at any level, yet ponds and doglegs pose plenty of challenge.
The city of Freeman operates two parks, both with picnic shelters, room to run and playground equipment. Lions Park is maintained with support from the Freeman Lions Club; the other is the Swimming Pool Park (pictured).
The Swimming Pool Park includes a pair of tennis courts that have been recently rebuilt. They were developed by the Freeman Jaycee, are maintained by the city of Freeman and open to anybody 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
